Rocket Science : Turn off Windows Updates in Windows 10

You can do this using the Windows Update service. Via Control Panel > Administrative Tools, you can access Services. In the Services window, scroll down to Windows Update and turn off the process. To turn it off, right-click on the process, click on Properties and select Disabled. That will take care of Windows Updates not being installed on your machine.

But since Windows is a Service now onwards, you have to keep your computer updated. To be able to install the next set of features or a newer build, you will require the earlier updates to be installed. That’s why if you use the above workaround, you will have to go to the Services and turn it on once in a while to download and update your copy of Windows.

After you turn on the Windows Update service, when you open Windows Update in PC Settings, you will see a message that updates were not installed because computer was stopped. You will have to click on Retry so that all the available updates are downloaded and installed. This may take two or three “Check for Updates”. You will have to keep on clicking “Check for updates” until it says your computer is up to date. Then you can go back and turn off the Windows Update service until next time you feel you are free enough to spend time updating your copy of Windows 10.

Never provide your credit card information when booking holiday in Maldives

In your “Must visit places” you should definitely put Maldives in your list. I would say it’s one of most beautiful tropical country with little islands. With all the unique and excellent services by local staff’s, these crystal clear blue lagoons and white sandy beaches are “The Paradise on Earth”.

To get the best ideal packages, rates or offers to visit Maldives for your holiday it is obvious that you will be booking by one of the local travel agents. If you are booking through local travel agents it will save you lots of money and will provide you the best services and recommendations from their dedicated staff’s. If you book through online booking engines who are not local travel agents, pretty sure you miss the best of the best services and holiday experiences.

Unlike the local agents sometimes when you arrive for your holiday if you need any services during the holiday it is very unlike that you will be getting a prompt reply, where else the local agents living there will be there always for you if you need any services without any hesitations. Main topic I really want to talk about is the credit card fraud that is happening nowadays.

Here I am going share my personal thoughts and experience that clients face after giving the credit card information’s to local travel agents. Most of the company does not have online credit card processing with bank, they will request you to provide fax, email or send a form to fill and send back to them. All the companies are registered, getting PATA license is very easy and almost all travel agents will have them but make sure the travel agents you are booking does not ask your credit card information’s. As to myself I have second thoughts providing my credit card detail information to another.

If the company is well established surely they will have MTBP, PATA, MATATO and they will have online payment gateway where you will enter the credit card information at one of the bank domain with a https url. So you don’t have to worry about your credit card details from travel agents as the details are safe in the bank domain only. Recently BML (Bank of Maldives) the local government bank has started the online payment gateway and they are giving only this option to trusted travel agents and companies in Maldives.

I am in Maldives tourism industry since 2005 and my friendly advice is to not to give your credit card information to any travel agents, if the travel agent is so good surly they will have an online payment gateway. If you want me to share my personal experience regarding your trip to Maldives, please just email me asking about it surely I will share with you.

Thank you for reading

Here's how often you should wash your bath towel

It's not as clean and fresh as you think it is.
I hate to break it to you, but your bath towel is dirty – really dirty. The moment you use it, it becomes a breeding ground of bacteria; fungi; dead skin cells; salivary, anal and urinary secretions; and many other germs lingering in your bathroom that may have hopped onto your towel – including droplets from your toilet.
While most of these microbes aren't likely to harm you, given that most of them probably came from your own body, they're there, and they're multiplying quickly.

So how many times can you use your towel before before concentrations of your own flora get so out of hand that you need to wash it? "If you can dry it completely, no more than three times max," Philip Tierno, a microbiologist and pathologist at the New York University School of Medicine, told Tech Insider.

And this is assuming that you're hanging it somewhere dry so that it can completely air out. "A damp towel is growing," Tierno said. "If there is odour coming from the towel, wherever there is odour, there are microbes growing so it should be washed."

Towels serve as ideal breading grounds for germs because they contain many of the requirementsfor microbial life: water, warm temperatures, oxygen, food, and a neutral pH. The human body supplies these ideal living conditions, which is why our entire body is covered in them inside and out.

When you wick moisture from your body, the microbes and other secretions such as cellular debris that live on the surface of your body get deposited onto your towel. Your cellular debris and other deposits from the air serve as food for the microbes, and the moisture supplies water at a neutral pH.

It's hard to say whether the microbes growing on your towel are harmful, Tierno said, since most germs in our households aren't dangerous.

But if you share your towel with others, you could potentially come into contact with organisms that your body isn't used to dealing with – such as Staphylococcus aureus, Tierno said, "which may give rise to a boil, or a pimple, or an infection."

"The idea is to be prudent and to be aware," Tierno said. Mostly, aware that your towel is disgusting. And you're probably not washing it enough.
